Good Deeds Net Officer Recognition, Lots of Bread
Shrewsbury Police Officer Jessica Boyd was recognized by Wonder Bread Heroes, which recognizes those who go above and beyond in their communities.

As a police officer with the Shrewsbury Police Department, Ptl. Jessica Boyd has a responsibility to help serve and protect the borough’s residents. But, it’s what she does when she's not on duty that’s gotten her national recognition.
Boyd was recently named an honorable mention in the Wonder Bread Heroes campaign, a national effort by the classic American white bread pantry staple to recognize those who go above and beyond in their communities. Boyd was one of two honorable mentions along with 2012 Wonder Bread Hero Charles Buck Bennett.
For her efforts, Boyd received a check for $1,000, which she promptly signed over to in Red Bank, and a year’s supply of bread. Though it would have made for a better sight, the year’s supply of Wonder Bread does not come all at once, dumped off the back of a truck, but rather in the form of coupons mailed to her every month, unfortunately.

Boyd said she plans on sharing the bread, too.
Boyd, in her ninth year with the and 10th year in law enforcement, earned the honorable mention for her varied efforts with a number of organizations. According to her Wonder Bread bio, Boyd participated in a 300-mile bike ride from New Jersey to Washington D.C. to help raise money for the Families of Fallen Police Officers program. She also ran the torch for the Special Olympics, sat in the “Dunk a Cop” dunk tank for Make a Wish Foundation, and works regularly with children as part of the DARE program.

The 30 year old said she’s just doing her part to give back.
“I just feel like I’ve been very fortunate in my life,” she said Wednesday afternoon. “I feel like I’m in a position to help someone else.”
