RED BANK, NJ — Comic book lovers unite — a new TV show based on Kevin Smith’s NJ comic book store is in the works.

Smith confirmed the show’s development earlier this month on Facebook, expressing his excitement for the series and gratitude for those who helped develop it.

The show will be called “Local Heroes,” and follow a group of comic book store regulars who come together to solve crimes in their hometown, according to a report from Variety.

“Life full of mysteries — and so is your friendly neighborhood comic book store!” Smith wrote on Facebook. “I don’t wanna jinx it but I’m really excited about this show we’re working on and I hope we get to take it all the way!”

From its home on Broad Street, Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash has become a well-known spot in the Red Bank community.

Before development began for "Local Heroes," the store served as the setting for AMC's unscripted series "Comic Book Men," which captured the world of the store and fanboy culture.

As a Red Bank native and comic book-lover himself, Smith is still known to visit Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash from time to time. In December, he even came to the shop dressed as Santa and took photos with fans, families and kids.

In addition to his shop and "Comic Book Men," Smith is also known for films such as “Clerks,” “Chasing Amy,” “Clerks II” and “Dogma.” Throughout his career, he’s worked as a producer, actor, writer and director on various projects.
