Man Hit by NJ Transit Train Identified

Accident occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday

Gerald Caruso, 24, of Aberdeen, was killed after he was hit by an NJ Transit train at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to NJ Transit.

An NJ Transit spokesman released the name Wednesday and the incident is being investigated as a possible suicide by NJ Transit Police, according to William J. Smith, senior public information officer.

North Jersey Coast Line service was temporarily suspended following the incident, and service resumed as of 7:15 a.m. Passengers were transported by bus to another train at Aberdeen-Matawan.
