Man Steals Car While Driver Is Getting Gas In Red Bank: Police
In surveillance footage of the incident, the man can be seen getting into the vehicle while the vehicle's owner pays for gas.

RED BANK, NJ — Red Bank Police are searching for a man who got into someone else’s running vehicle and took off while the vehicle’s driver was paying for gas, Police Chief Michael Frazee said.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the Shell Gas Station on 390 Shrewsbury Ave.
The victim of the incident, an unnamed man from Middletown, said he was buying gas when another man entered his vehicle and drove west on Newman Springs Road.

In surveillance footage of the incident, the suspect can be seen getting out of a white BMW X5 with Pennsylvania plates that pulled up in front of the victim’s car.
As the BMW pulls up, the suspect can be seen crawling around the victim’s vehicle until he reaches the driver-side door. The suspect then opens the door and enters the vehicle as the victim finishes paying for gas

On the way back to his car, the victim can be seen trying to stop the suspect from driving away. While a short struggle ensued, Frazee said the victim ultimately backed away from the vehicle because he was afraid the suspect had a weapon.
As of Tuesday evening, the vehicle has not yet been recovered, Frazee told Patch.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call them at 732-530-2700.
“We ask the public to pay attention to their surroundings and be vigilant,” Frazee said. “Anyone with information is asked to contact the Red Bank Police Department.”
