Man Suffers ‘Severe Burns’ Following Red Bank House Fire: Police
The fire broke out at a home on Shrewsbury Avenue on Tuesday morning, Red Bank Police Chief Michael Frazee said.
RED BANK, NJ — A man suffered burns over 80% of his body following a house fire on Shrewsbury Avenue on Tuesday morning, Red Bank Police Chief Michael Frazee told Patch.
Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, police and fire departments were dispatched to 249 Shrewsbury Avenue for a report of a structure fire.
Once Sgt. Ashon Lovick and other patrol officers arrived, police said they discovered a smoke condition, and an occupant of the home hanging out of the second-floor window.

Fire officials arrived on the scene and quickly rescued the victim using a ground ladder to reach him and pull him to safety. Unfortunately, the resident was injured with severe burns on his body and airlifted to Staten Island University Burn Center for treatment.
According to information received by police on Thursday, Frazee said the victim was in stable but critical condition with burns over 80% of his body.

The fire was extinguished by members of the Red Bank Fire Department with assistance from the Middletown Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Red Bank and Monmouth County Fire Marshals' Office. According to Frazee, it appears the fire may have started on the first floor of the home.
