The audition process is divided into four key parts:

  1. A solo (can be chosen from any genre and be in any language)
  2. A vocalization exercise
  3. A pitch memory exercise
  4. Sight singing (this is one component of a broader assessment of your potential contribution to the ensemble, as members of the Chorus have varying degrees of music literacy and sight singing abilities)

Once auditions are complete, candidates will be notified via email about their acceptance.

The Monmouth Civic Chorus rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Monmouth Reform Temple in Tinton Falls.

Weekly rehearsals start with a warm welcome from Brandau, then continue with an extensive warm-up, dedicating time for members to better understand how to use their voices efficiently and expressively.

A typical season concert includes three concerts, officials said.

The 2024-2025 season features a December holiday concert at the Count Basie Center for the Arts with traditional Christmas carols and other popular holiday songs, including selections of movements from Handel's Messiah.

In March, the Chorus will host a concert featuring a full-length performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and in May, Sarah Kirkland Snider’s acclaimed 2018 Mass for the Endangered will be performed alongside a selection of shorter works.
