New Preschool & Daycare Hosts Grand Opening In Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, NJ — A new preschool and daycare has officially opened its doors to local families in Monmouth County.

Apple Montessori Shrewsbury Preschool & Daycare (located at 40 Avenue at The Commons, Shrewsbury) held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 10, followed by an open house for attendees.

The new school offers infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten and summer camp programs for kids ages six-week-olds to six years old, as well as an outdoor classroom, a multipurpose room, a saltwater swimming pool, a morning drop-off lane and more.

“It was a picture-perfect day in Shrewsbury,” the school said in an online post following their grand opening event. “ Thank you to all who joined us for our Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting & Open House! We are loving this community and can’t wait to make more memories with you all!”

At Apple Montessori Shrewsbury, students follow the “Montessori Approach,” according to the website, which aims to offer “enrichment beyond the traditional educational experience.”

Components of the Montessori Approach include:

• A curriculum with subjects ranging from music to art, yoga, foreign language, character development and technology
• Literacy-focused, with a phonics-based reading program
• Structured freedom, where each child is treated as an individual and given the freedom and space to develop at their own pace in the classroom
• Trained staff who guide and educate fellow teachers and staff so they can be the best they can be for students
• Parent partnership where Apple Montessori collaborates closely with students' families and ensures they receive consistent communication, education and support
• Legacy and reputation of Montessori schools (with other locations such as Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Hillsborough, etc.) that have been guiding children for over 50 years

"We are so excited to be opening a new location in Shrewsbury!” Andrea Vargas, CEO of Apple Montessori Schools, previously told Patch. “This will be Apple Montessori's first school in Monmouth County, and we are thrilled to be able to expand the Apple family and bring the Montessori approach and our advanced academic curriculum to even more new students this upcoming school year.”

At Apple Montessori Shrewsbury, the academic day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the school’s overall hours running from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
