New Preschool & Daycare Sets Opening Day In Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY, NJ — A new preschool and daycare is set to officially open its doors to local families in September.

Apple Montessori Shrewsbury Preschool & Daycare, located at 40 Avenue at the Commons, Shrewsbury, will officially open on Wednesday, Sept. 3, officials said.

The school offers infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten and summer camp programs for children ages six weeks old to six years old and features an outdoor classroom, a multipurpose room, a saltwater swimming pool, a morning drop-off lane and more.

According to the Apple Montessori website, students at the school will follow the “Montessori Approach,” which aims to offer “enrichment beyond the traditional educational experience.”

Components of the Montessori Approach include:

• A well-rounded curriculum with subjects ranging from music to art, yoga, foreign language, character development and technology
• Literacy-focused, with a phonics-based reading program that has most students reading by four years old
• Structured freedom, where each child is treated as an individual and given the freedom and space to develop at their own pace in the classroom
• Highly trained staff that guide and educate fellow teachers and staff so they can be the best they can be for students
• Parent partnership where Apple Montessori collaborates closely with students' families and ensures they receive consistent communication, education and support
• Legacy and reputation of Montessori schools (with other locations such as Cliffside Park, Edgewater, Hillsborough, etc.) that have been guiding children for over 50 years

At Apple Montessori Shrewsbury, operating hours are 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the academic day set from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
