NJ Film Director To Host Birthday Celebration At Monmouth County Comic Book Shop

RED BANK, NJ — This summer, Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash in Red Bank will help celebrate director, actor, writer and producer Kevin Smith’s 55th birthday with a special celebration at the store.

The birthday bash event, which is set to take place on Aug. 3, will host a gathering at the Secret Stash in small, VIP groups to celebrate Smith’s birthday.

Joining Smith at the party will be star artists Fernando Ruiz and Chris Campana, both of whom are key artists for the “Archie Meets Jay and Silent Bob” crossover comics, which hit stores on July 9.

As an honored guest at the event, attendees will be able to take selfies, participate in meet and greets and leave with comics written by Smith and signed by him too (such as Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1, Archie Meets Jay and Silent Bob, and Quick Stops Volume 3, #1).

Tickets are $55 per person and can be purchased here. Smith will not be signing during the event, according to the ticket website.

“Join us and let’s make this the best birthday bash yet!” the store said in an online post.

A Red Bank native, Smith is known for his love of comic books as well as his work on films such as “Clerks,” “Dogma,” and “Chasing Amy.”

He is also famous for his show “Comic Book Men,” which ran from 2012-2018 and was set in Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.

In late December, it was announced that Smith is developing a TV show based on the shop that will follow a group of comic book store regulars who come together to solve crimes in their hometown.

Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash is located at 65 Broad Street, Red Bank.
