RED BANK, NJ — The Red Bank Borough Council will begin its search for a permanent borough manager after it authorizes posting the job at its meeting Thursday.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, and will vote on posting the position under the new nonpartisan Council/Manager form of government, according to the council agenda.

Meanwhile, current Interim Administrator Darren McConnell is slated to take on the new title of interim borough manager - or municipal manager - under other action coming up at the meeting.

McConnell said there is no set date as of yet for the council to appoint a new manager, but the expected action to post the job will "set the wheels in motion."

Meanwhile, Capt. Michael Frazee has already been selected to replace O'Connell as the chief of police - a job McConnell originally was filling before being called upon to be interim administrator.

Frazee will formally take on that role once McConnell is officially retired, and that exact date is still to be determined, McConnell said Wednesday.

Voters in Red Bank approved a change to a nonpartisan government in the November 2022 election. The new form of government became official on July 1, 2023, after the nonpartisan election for mayor and council on May 9.
