Sewage Spill At NJ Transit Parking Lot In Red Bank; Avoid Area
Officials are strongly advising the public to avoid the area of NJ Transit Lot 1 at Monmouth Street and Burrowes Street.
RED BANK, NJ — Officials are strongly advising Red Bank residents and visitors to avoid the area of NJ Transit Lot 1 at Monmouth Street and Burrowes Street due to a sewage spill.
The spill resulted from a third party drilling company striking a Red Bank force main, which then caused sewage to be discharged into nearby storm drains, according to officials.
Emergency crews have been activated to mitigate the situation and will work until the issue is resolved, officials said.

Red Bank Borough strongly advises all residents and visitors to refrain from engaging in river activities or consuming any shellfish or finfish in the area of the SH 35 Bridge and nearby riverbanks until additional water monitoring can be conducted.
The NJ Department of Environmental Protection has also been notified.
