Sewer Cleaning Planned For Monday In Red Bank

The cleaning will be conducted at Linden Place and take approximately two days to complete, officials said.

RED BANK, NJ — Red Bank residents should be aware of sewer cleaning operations planned for Linden Place on Monday. According to officials, the cleaning will take take approximately two days to complete.

This notice comes following a Friday morning update from the Borough stating that Thursday evening’s sewage spill had been resolved.

Red Bank Borough contractor National Water Main Cleaning Co. will be conducting preventative cleaning, maintenance and video inspection of the sanitary sewer and stormwater pipes within the road starting on Monday, according to officials.

During this process, NWMCC will insert a nozzle in the Linden Place sewer and internally pressure-wash the system.

According to officials, this work can occasionally create burping sounds in your residential sewer lateral due to air attempting to escape the system. Residents may notice an odor coming from the sewer and, in rare cases, water splashing out of drains, officials said.

In order to minimize these disruptions, officials recommend residents do the following:

  • Close your toilet lid so if water does splash, it will remain in the bowl.
  • Place a towel above ground—level toilets and drains. This will help to prevent any leakage from the pressurization of the lines.
  • Remove your sewer clean-out cap. On many properties, a cap may exist approximately three feet from the house near the homeowner’s sewer line. Removing the cap and making sure it’s clean will ensure any odors can escape. Remember to replace the cap after cleaning.
  • Run water after the cleaning is finished. This will refill the drain traps and prevent any odors from rising through the pipes.

These cleaning operations will be completed in sections, according to officials.
