10 High Schools In Bergen County Make U.S. News Ranking Of Top 50 In NJ
U.S. News and World Report released its annual rankings of public high schools. See if your school made the grade.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The magazine U.S. News & World Report has released its annual rankings of the best high schools in the state and country — and as usual, several in Bergen County made the list.
While the 2025-2026 Best High School Rankings, released Tuesday, include public magnet schools, charter schools, and specialized STEM schools that students have to apply to, they also include regular public schools.
Nearly 24,000 public high schools were evaluated, and nearly 18,000 were ranked.

Among the top 50 in New Jersey, two of the Bergen County high schools also made the top 100 in the country.
Meanwhile, one high school, Mahwah High School, barely missed the top 50, coming in at 51.

In Bergen County, these schools made the cut:
50. Cresskill High School
48. Glen Rock High School
44. River Dell Regional High School (Oradell)
43. Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan
41. Ridgewood High School
30. Northern Highlands Regional High School, Allendale
24. Tenafly High School
18. Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest
7. Bergen County Technical High School, Teterboro (Ranked 82 nationally)
2. Bergen County Academies, Hackensack (Ranked 41 nationally)
The top five public high schools in New Jersey are:

- High Technology High School, Lincroft (Monmouth County Vocational School District)
- Bergen County Academies, Hackensack (Bergen County Vocational Technical School District)
- Edison Academy Magnet School, Edison, (Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School District)
- McNair High School,Jersey City, (Jersey City Public Schools)
- Union County Magnet High School, Scotch Plains (Union County Vocational-Technical School District)
The 2025-2026 Best High Schools national rankings identified top public schools based on six performance indicators, including student achievement on state-required assessments, strong graduation rates, and college readiness measures.
Schools were evaluated on how effectively they serve all students, including underserved populations, with college readiness specifically measured, the magazine said.
