Nearly $300K Still Missing From Brink's Truck On Rt. 3: Police
Local police are urging people to turn in more of the money without fear of being criminally charged.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Police reported that $500,000 fell out of the Brink's armored truck on Route 3 Thursday and that most of it, nearly $300,000, is still missing.
Brink's employees and good Samaritans collected more than $205,000 of the cash, but more than $293,000 was missing, WNYW reported.
Good Samaritans have turned in more than $11,000 of the $500,000 that blew all over Route 3 in East Rutherford Thursday morning, according to the WNYW report.

Police said the truck's back door did not shut property due to a malfunction, which caused a bag of a money to fall out the back, according to NorthJersey.com.

It is unknown exactly how much money fell out of the truck. A Brink's spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
Capt. Phil Taormina could not be reached for comment Friday.
Money fell out of the truck on the eastbound side of the highway at about 8:30 a.m. A video posted on Twitter showed people stopping on the highway, getting out of their cars, and chasing after the money, picking it up. Police said there were several vehicle crashes on the highway because of all the commotion.
Anyone who may have some of the money is urged to call the East Rutherford Police Department at 201-438-0165 to make arrangements to turn it in.
