6 Hospitalized After School Bus Runs Red Light In Ridgewood: Police

Multiple people were hospitalized after a school bus apparently ran a red light and collided with other vehicles at an intersection.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Multiple people, including two children, were hospitalized Monday after a school bus apparently ran a red light and collided with other vehicles at a Ridgewood intersection, Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said.

The bus was traveling north on South Van Dien Avenue before the multi-vehicle crash in which it was hit by a Mazda CX-9 and a Land Rover, Luthcke said.

All four people inside the bus, including the driver, two adult passengers and one 11-year-old child, were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Land Rover and his 15-year-old daughter were also taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Mazda refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
