Bergen County Full Of Events This Weekend: 5K Race, Art Show, 250th History Talks
An art show at the county park, live music, family events, and events for America's 250th birthday are planned in Bergen County.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Bergen County and the Mahwah Museum have planned several historical and family events for October, with several taking place this coming weekend.
The Bergen250 Program, through its Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs, has planned events that "will highlight both Bergen County’s Revolutionary History and its cultural contributions since our founding."

The county said, "These events are aimed at history buffs and cultural savants alike; with different educational programs and art/music events the whole family can enjoy!"

Bergen County Executive James Tedesco III said, “From celebrating our Revolutionary War history to showcasing the incredible talents of local artists and musicians, these free events bring our community together and highlight the unique heritage that makes Bergen County so special. I encourage all residents to take part in these opportunities to learn, celebrate, and connect with one another.”
Art And History On Saturday

On Saturday, the 61st Annual Art in the Park; a free outside art exhibit and concert, will showcase 100+ visual artists.
The event takes place at Van Saun County Park from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a music performance by Dean Shot with special guest saxophonist Greg Piccolo.
Also on Saturday, “The Garden of America” visual presentation and talk will be given by Dr. Robert Selig. The illustrated talk provides examples of Franco-American encounters and the cultural impact of French forces that headed into the Mahwah area in 1781. The forces were led by Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau. Registration is $10. Races And Family Fun Walk On Sunday
On Sunday, residents can participate in the RevNJ Race Series 5K and Family Fun Walk. Located at the Ramapo Valley County Reservation, this 5K is hosted by RevolutionNJ, a partnership between the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the New Jersey Department of State, and the nonprofit Crossroads of the American Revolution Association.
The walk and run aims to have participants engage with New Jersey’s revolutionary history in a unique way. Events will be held starting at 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Register at RevNJ.org/Events
At 7:30 a.m., the Mahwah Museum will hold the Mahwah Revolutionary Race Through History. Join in this event to commemorate Mahwah’s historic sites. A Town Crier will start the race with a very special “Proclamation.”
Later this month, the 15th Annual Performance from “The Cider Barn Band” will take place at the Wortendyke Barn Museum. This final performance of our Music at the Barn 2025 series will take place Oct. 26 at 1:30 p.m. It features local bluegrass legends Kenny Kosek, Barry Mitterhof, Joe Selly, Marty Cutler, and Marty Confurius. The performance will be held at 1:30 p.m. at 13 Pascack Rd., Park Ridge, and is free.

The Mahwah Museum is open on Saturdays through June from 1-4 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. Admission is free for children 18 and under, students, and Mahwah Museum members.
