UPDATE: Baste in Ridgewood Closes

New concept to emerge, owner says

Gourmet chicken restaurant announced Wednesday it has closed the doors.

The Garber Square business opened this past summer, specializing in roasted and charcoal-grilled chicken, which has been a hit at the owners' flagship restaurant Axia in Tenafly.

According to owner Christina Parlamis, the business closed this past Monday.

"We closed for two reasons - one was limited sale volume of the restaurant as a gourmet chicken place," Parlamis said. "The second was we wanted to pursue a new opportunity that has presented itself to us with the space that better fits the needs of the neighborhood."
