A Bergen County police chief faces simple assault charges after being accused of shoving his son-in-law.
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – A Bergen County police chief faces simple assault charges after being accused of shoving his son-in-law and has been suspended without pay, according to reports.
The July 28 incident involving longtime Hasbrouck Heights Police Chief Michael Colaneri, Sr. remains under investigation, TapInto Hasbrouck Heights reported.
Colaneri was suspended Thursday by the borough council, TapInto reported.

Last month, the local PBA presented a vote of no confidence in the police department, telling the governing body the chief’s leadership has led to an environment that is “rampant with nepotism, workplace harassment, intimidation and fear,” NorthJersey.com reported.
