Celebrate Autumn With Story Walk By Parks Department In Bergen County

Families are invited to celebrate the change of seasons at a local park in an initiative presented by the Ridgewood Parks Department.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — "Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn" — celebrate the change of seasons with a Story Walk presented by the Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department, Recreation Supervisor Katie Frey said.

A literary initiative that combines the reading of a children's story with a walking route, a Story Walk "connects families in the outdoors," the Parks Department said.

"Goodbye Summer Hello Autumn," authored by Kenard Pak, shares an adventure of a young girl as she walk through forest and town, greeting the signs of the coming season, a book description said.

The Story Walk is a "unique way to inspire parents, teachers, grandparents and caregivers to take young children on a short stroll that is free for all," the Parks Department said.

From Sept. 19 through Nov. 11, the Story Walk will be displayed in the meadow area adjacent to The Stable art gallery at 259 North Maple Avenue.

"Families are invited to visit, enjoy the story together and discover the beauty of nature during the changing seasons in one local park," the Parks Department said.
