Child Sexually Assaulted By 2 Men In Bergen County, Prosecutor Says

Two men were arrested Friday for sexually assaulting a minor "on multiple occasions," said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Two Bergen County men were arrested Friday on sexual assault charges for crimes against a child "on multiple occasions," prosecutors said.

Francisco Serpas, 47, and Angel Serpas, 37, of Wood-Ridge, were charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Feb. 13, the Wood-Ridge Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in the past.

An investigation determined that Francisco and Angel Serpas had "sexually assaulted and endangered a juvenile on multiple occasions between January 2021 and December 2022 in Wood-Ridge," prosecutors said.

The pair were arrested Friday in Paramus and each charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

The pair were taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors did not comment on the relationship between the suspects, but Patch will update this story if more information is received.
