Suspect In Stabbing At CNBC In Bergen County Had Hit Host's Vehicle With Car: Reports

A 29-year-old Piscataway man who allegedly stabbed a woman at CNBC headquarters had also crashed into an on-air hosts's car, reports say.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ — A man who allegedly stabbed a woman outside CNBC headquarters in Englewood Cliffs earlier this month had first crashed his car into the vehicle of an on-air host, according to published reports.

On Saturday, June 15, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Harshkumar "Harsh" Patel, 29, of Piscataway, stabbed a woman whom he didn't know through her car window in Englewood Cliffs. She was taken to Hackensack Medical Center for treatment.

Patel was located in Pisacataway and charged with attempted murder and other crimes.

Subsequent media reports said that Patel had first asked the 30-year-old woman if she was coming from CNBC before stabbing her.

And reports this week said that before stabbing her, he had slammed his car into another vehicle at 40 m.p.h. In that case, the woman took a photo of his license plate, which helped police identify him, according to NJ 101.5 and NorthJersey.com.

At Patel's detention hearing on June 21, a judge decided to keep him in custody in Bergen County, reports said.
