Coffee Talk with Dr. Fishbein: District Holding Budget Meetings This Month

Have a coffee and discuss the finer points of the school budget with the superintendent of schools.

Most don't find board of education meetings a terribly enthralling experience, even in budget-busting times. Perhaps a change of setting or a cup 'o joe will liven things up?

Superintendent Dr. Daniel Fishbein and Assistant Superintendent for Business Angelo DeSimone–along with a few school board members–will be discussing the various points of the with a question-and-answer session three specific days. On April 12, residents are invited to hear all things budget over coffee with Fishbein at the at Cottage Place at 9 a.m.

Public presentations will also take place at on Thursday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium; and at at the same time in the auditorium.

Budget presentations and pertinent updates will be at the regularly-scheduled board meetings on March 21 and 28 with the latter meeting being the public hearing. So , that's a meeting you won't want to miss.

The district has unveiled a proposed $86,775,809 budget for 2011-2012, representing an increase from this year of $363,441.33. This translates to a $23.94 increase per $100,000 valuation, about $191 for the average assessed house of $797,400.

Elections and the budget voting will be on Wednesday, April 27. The four candidates running for two three-year seats are incumbents with challengers and .
