District Finance Committee Seeking 'No Voters' to Help Understand Dissenting Opinion on Budget

Discussion on May 16 may help with 2012-2013 budget crafting process

Head of the Finance Committee Bob Hutton, along with board president Michele Lenhard and Assistant Superintendent of Business Angelo DeSimone will be on hand to answer questions and provide an easier-to-digest explanation of the complex series of numbers.

The panel, said Hutton on Monday night, is particularly interested in hearing from those who voted "no" on the budget question. Hutton is planning on another open meeting forum in the future, he said.

The budget passed with 1,817 'yes' votes to 1448 'no' votes. The $86.77 million general budget remains a flat 2 percent increase, which will see the average homeowner's school taxes increase by $191 on a home valuation of just over $797,000. There are no direct staffing or programming changes due to the budget.
