Driver Charged with Eluding Ridgewood Police
Police say one man fled from a motor vehicle stop and was nabbed by police in a garage.

Police charged a driver on April 15 for allegedly trying to flee police while under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
Police say Patrolman John Chuck attempted to make a motor vehicle stop on Van Emburgh Avenue but the driver wasn't having it–instead driving onto Westbrook Road and into a driveway. Police say the individual parked in the garage and attempted to close the door but Chuck, according to police, entered the garage in time and detained the driver.
Police say they believe the driver was impaired and charged him for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. The man was released pending a first appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

A Hillcrest Road resident reported to police on April 14 that during the night two Adirondack chairs were stolen from his front yard. Detectives are investigating.

- UPS package reported stolen
A California Street resident told police on April 14 that a UPS package delivered to his home in March was stolen from his front porch. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating.
- Wallet, credit card numbers reported stolen at NY Sports Club
On April 14, 2011 a Ridgewood resident reported that while at NY Sports Club someone went through his locker and took off with approximately $400 from his wallet and made off with credit card numbers. The locker was locked, he reported. The victim reported there were attempts to make purchases with the credit card numbers. The matter is currently under investigation by detectives. removed approximately $400.00 from his wallet as well as taken his credit card numbers.
- Delivery Thwarted
A Sunset Avenue resident reported to police that he had put a package on his front porch for Fedex to pick up but someone beat FedEx to it. The shipping company driver came to pick the package up but it had apparently been stolen prior to his arrival, police say. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is looking into the matter.
- Fight on Chestnut Street
Patrol responded to a fight on Chestnut Street just past 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 17. Police reported the fight was stopped and one of the individuals involved was transported to Bergen Regional Medical Center due to intoxication. All other parties involved refused medical attention at the scene and declined to file any complaints, police say.
