DWI Charge For Man Who Hit Pole On Route 208 In Glen Rock: Police
A Bergen County man was charged with DWI Sunday night after a crash in Glen Rock.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A 34-year-old Bergen County man was charged with DWI on Sunday after he slammed into a utility pole while exiting Route 208 in Glen Rock, police said.
Shon C. Barnes of Hackensack was charged with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to breath testing, said the Glen Rock police on Monday. He was also issued summonses for careless driving and failure to maintain lane.
Police said that around 7:15 p.m. Officer T.J. Graziani saw that a vehicle had struck a pole at the Harristown Road off-ramp from Route 208 North. Graziani determined that the driver was intoxicated and arrested him, police said.

He was taken to police headquarters and his vehicle was impounded in accordance with John’s Law. He was released to the custody
of a sober adult, police said.

John's Law was instituted in New Jersey in 2001 after a man was charged with DWI and then released into the custody of a friend, who took him to his vehicle, according to the state. The man then collided with another car, killing the driver, John Elliott.
