Four Ridgewood Roads Will Have Detours Over 6 Weeks: See Schedule

Four roads in Ridgewood will have detours for 6 weeks to install water mains near Eastside Reservoir and the future PFAS Treatment facility.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ridgewood Water has begun installing new water mains in the area of the Eastside Reservoir and future site of the Eastside PFAS Treatment Facility, whose construction will begin later this year, the town said.

The main project will take six weeks and cause detours in four areas. It began on Tuesday.

The work will take place from 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. Road closures and detours will be in place. "Please allow extra time when traveling in the area," the town said.

The water company said they'd try to minimize disruptions at Glen School during dropoff and pickup.

The construction of the Eastside PFAS Treatment Facility will begin later in the year.

"By the end of 2026, when all 12 PFAS Treatment Facilities are online, all regulated PFAS compounds will be nondetectable in our treated water, exceeding the EPA standard of 4 parts per trillion," said the town. "Our system-wide project also will be completed three years ahead of the EPA’s 2029 deadline."

The roads with detours are:

  • East Saddle River Road, April 1-16.
  • East Glen Avenue (west of Van Emburgh Avenue), April 17-May 2.
  • Van Emburgh Avenue, May 5-9.
  • East Glen Avenue (east of Van Emburgh Avenue), May 12-16.
