Friday: Flags Flown at Half Mast in Memory of Retired Firefighter

Edward Outslay, who retired as a lieutenant in 1995, was 72 years old.

1) As noted by a commenter and Mayor Killion, Ridgewood is mourning the loss of Edward Outslay, who passed away on Tuesday. Outslay, who was 72, was a lieutenant with the fire department and retired in 1995. He also owned his own sprinkler business and was most recently as a real estate agent with Gilsenan Realtors. The flag at Village Hall was flown at half-mast on Thursday in respect. Share your memories here. Visiting hours on Friday will be at Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday at 12 p.m.

2) There will be an Irish dance concert at Our Lady Mt. Carmel to benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Featured performances by Ceol Milis, the award winning traditional Irish music group and the Ridgewood Irish Dance Team. If you haven't grabbed a ticket yet, you can at the door –$15 for adults and $10 for students.

3) The RHS Orchestra Parents Association (OPA) is working with Donna Dorsey and her crew at Goffle Brook Farms on a spring plant sale fund raiser. 4) The Ridgewood Public Library's Friday Movie Matinee is "Morning Glory" at 1 p.m.

5) The Ridgewood boys varsity tennis team is putting a sparkling season together thus far, ranking the number 9 team in the state, according to The Star Ledger. The team has a record of 9-1. The team will take on Teaneck at 4:15 p.m. in an away match.
