Friday: Pro Arte Chorale Concert Chock Full of Met Opera Stars

There's also a block sale to support the CRR on Friday.

1) Head over to West Side Presbyterian at 8:00 p.m. to hear the Pro Arte Chorale perform a "conductor's choice" with Maestro Hoshua Greene (of Metropolitan Opera fame) featuring music from Mendelssohn, Brahms, Janacek, Faure and Britton. Soloists Melissa Kelley (soprano – also from the Met), Kirstin Chavez (mezzo/soprano), Chee Shen Tan (tenor) and Edward Pleasant (bass) will perform. Give the Pro Arte Chorale a call at (201) 497-8400 or shoot them an email at info@proartechorale.org

2) The girls varsity softball team is playing Northern Valley Demarest at 6:00 p.m. in an away game. You'll also want to stick around on Saturday, where the team will play host to the Bergen County Softball Tournament at Vets. First game (at 2:30 p.m.) is Ridgewood vs. Glen Rock; second game is at 4:30 p.m. and will feature #1 Paramus against #16 Fair Lawn. The winners will play in the quarterfinals at IHA in Washington Township the following Saturday.

3) There's a cool story in The Record about Valley-affiliated pediatrician Dr. Sheeraz Iqbal, who donated his time in volunteering (along with his wife, also a doctor) and supplies to the Bergen County Shelter, which doesn't have a budget of its own for supplies.
