GLEN ROCK, NJ — Between April 6 and April 12, Glen Rock Police Department handled 296 calls for service. The highlights of those calls are included below:
On April 6 at 10:27 a.m., a Glen Rock police officer came across a 2019 Honda wanted by Wayne police for a mail theft. The officer tried to pull the Honda over on Route 208 South, and the driver of the Honda fled. The chase continued, sometimes in excess of 100 miles-per-hour, toward Route 4. There, it came to an end.
On April 7 at 12:10 p.m., Glen Rock firefighters responded to a brush fire near Hamilton School. The fire was reportedly caused by a blown transformer. Firefighters and PSE&G crews put out the fire without incident. No one was injured.
On April 8 at 11:33 a.m., a Glen Rock man called police to report he was the victim of an online gift card scam. Police said the man received an email from someone pretending to be his employer. The email requested the victim buy $2,000 worth of gift cards to distribute to employees as a bonus.
Police said the man bought the gift cards and sent the card and pin numbers to the scammer. When he was asked to buy more gift cards, the man became suspicious and contacted police. Detectives are investigating.
On April 9 at 2:45 p.m., a house in the 300 block of Ackerman Avenue was struck by a county shade tree. Two attic windows were broken and the roof had some damage. No injuries were reported, and a Bergen County work crew removed the tree.
