The park is scheduled to open on or around Sept 11. The park will be dedicated to 9/11 search and rescue dogs in honor of their work following the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Ground was broken on the 1-acre park, which has been in the works for years, in the spring. Temporary fencing has been put up around the park's perimeter. It will be divided into two sections, one for large dogs and another for small ones.

A group of dedicated residents has spearheaded the years-long effort to bring a dog park to Glen Rock. It is completely privately funded through donations and grants, including a $5,000 one from the Greater Bergen Association of Realtors.
The Borough Council approved the site, an empty plot of unused borough land behind the recycling center on Doremus Avenue.
The council approved a 10-year lease for the site in April. Glen Rock Dog Park Inc., a nonprofit, will be responsible for maintaining the site.
Sponsors are still needed for the site. For information about becoming a sponsor, or more information about the dog park, visit the project's website.
