Longtime Glen Rock Crossing Guard Dies

According to the , a long-time community crossing guard died Sunday.

Richard Meyers, who served as a crossing guard for the community since 2002, passed away at home, on Sunday January 22, 2012, after a 20 year battle with cancer, police posted on Facebook Thursday. Meyers was 84. 

According to the Facebook message, "Mr. Meyers stood faithfully at Rock & Maple from Sept of 2002 until 2009 when he changed to a less busy post at Ackerman and Harding. He was remained at that corner until the end of November when the pain forced him to retired from his post. He will be missed by the Department and the lives of the children he crossed."

Police wished their "deepest sympathies" to Meyers' wife, Dorothy, and children.
