GRPD Warn of Diversion Scam
Men claiming to be with utility company have been raiding area homes of jewelry and other valuables, police say

Glen Rock police are warning residents to be wary of any men claiming to be from a utility company needing access to your home.
According to a message left on the 's Facebook page, diversion scams have been increasing over the past two weeks. Police say more reports involve two males – possibly Hispanic – claiming they're from either the water company or another utility and they need to go inside. Police say once one man stays with the victim to check on water pressure in the basement or kitchen, a second man enters the home looking for jewelry, money and other valuables in the bedroom.
Most victims have been elderly and the suspects are described as driving a white SUV and walking around with a 'walkie-talkie'-like cell phone.
