Hackensack Man Sexually Assaulted Child: Prosecutors

A Hackensack man sexually assaulted a child on more than one occasion, said prosecutors.

HACKENSACK, NJ — A Hackensack man was arrested last week for sexually assaulting a child on more than one occasion, prosecutors said.

Fernando Sandoval, 42, was charged with second-degree sexual assault, second-degree attempted sexual assault, two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth degree criminal sexual contact, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's office.

Prosecutors said that on Nov. 6, the Hackensack Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding alleged sexual assault of a minor that had occurred in the past.

An investigation determined that Sandoval sexually assaulted a child in Hackensack on more than one occasion between Dec. 21 of last year and Nov. 2 of this year.

He was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
