Korean Retailer Aland To Open Flagship Store At American Dream
Aland, a popular Korean shop, plans to open a flagship location at the American Dream mega-mall.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Aland, a popular Korean shop, plans to open a flagship location at the American Dream mega-mall.
In a press release announcing the addition of Aland to the mall's retail lineup, developer Triple Five said the store promises to "bring everything that Korean fashion stands for to American Dream; unique designer brands worn by K-Pop stars, K-Beauty and more."
Founded in 2005 by sisters Kinam Jung and Jung Eun Jung, the multi-concept store sells both affordable basics and curated products by emerging independent Korean designers. Over the last 13 years, it has grown into a popular fashion retailer, with more than 20 stores in Korea and additional locations in Hong Kong and Thailand.

The 10,000-square foot store at American Dream will be the retailer's second U.S. location after its Brooklyn location opened in 2018.
Kinam Jung, Aland's Co-Founder said their goal is "to deliver fresh trends in the most compelling ways to a new customer."

She added: "We look forward to opening a flagship location at American Dream, where guests from New Jersey and the New York metro-area and around the world can shop for a highly curated selection of affordable basics, as well as learn about rising independent Korean designers. And not just that! While K-Pop has become mainstream cultural phenomena, customers can find popular items worn by BTS, Blackpink, Monster X, and et etc. ÅLAND will be the go-to-place for those who love K-Culture.”
“American Dream is a destination for discovery,” Don Ghermezian, CEO, American Dream, said in a press release. “Seoul has become an international fashion capital, known for its thriving street style. Aland will provide guests from near and far the opportunity to discover new, emerging Korean labels that they cannot find anywhere else, making it perfectly poised for American Dream.”

When the American Dream opens Oct. 25, the 3-million square foot mall will contain more than two-dozen restaurants, a Coca-Cola-branded food court and three food halls, giving patrons altogether more than 100 options for dining.
It was originally slated to open in 2017, but Triple Five pushed back the completion date due to difficulties it faced securing the financing.
The $5 billion mall will contain more than 450 retail, food and specialty stores and more than a dozen entertainment venues, such as indoor amusement and water parks, an aquarium, a performing arts theater and an ice rink.
A few highlights include: Nickelodeon Universe theme park with the steepest roller coaster in the world, the first indoor ski and snowboard park in the Western Hemisphere, and first Sea Life Aquarium in New Jersey with a walk-through, saltwater tunnel.
The opening of the aquarium and Legoland Discovery Center will not occur until early 2020, NJ.com reported recently.
Luxury retailers include Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Watches of Switzerland, Hermes, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Uniqlo, H&M, and Zara.
