'Like' Ridgewood Patch on Facebook, I'll Shave My Head

My friend wants payback for a botched haircut I performed; if we get to 1,001 Facebook 'likes' he'll have his payback.

On Friday night, a friend of mine learned a valuable lesson – don't let your inebriated friends give you a hair cut.

Soon, I too might be bald, learning a valuble lesson. If you want to see it happen, you should 'like' Ridgewood Patch on Facebook.

So here's how it all happened: Kevin, whom I've been friends with for well over a decade, requested a buzz cut. We had already thrown down a few libations, so the plan was a bad one from the onset.

It went from a poor plan to a slightly dangerous plan when I grabbed the buzzer.

"Just don't remove the buzzer's clip, James; put it on the shortest setting but don't remove the clip," he said, seated in a bathtub with his back turned to me.

"No problem," I told him. "There's nothing to worry about."

The buzzer was clumsy and slow. The hair was sprinkling onto his shoulders slowly and I was losing patience.

About five minutes in, I did exactly what he told me not to do – I removed the clip in an effort to make up for some lost time.

It wasn't long before I realized I shaved the center of the head down to the skin. At that point, there was nothing I could do but shave the rest.

As the old saying goes, what comes around, goes around.

If by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 15 there are 1,001 'likes' on the Ridgewood Patch Facebook page, I'll hand Kevin the buzzer I brutalized his hair with and let him get some sweet, sweet retribution.

As of this writing, at 10 p.m. on Sept. 4, we're at 917 'likes'.

The benefits here are two-fold – you get to see me pull off a new look, documented on video; and you also stay connected with what's going on in the communities you call home.
