Man Purposely Drove Into Traffic, Sending Senior To Hospital: Bergen County Prosecutors
A Ridgefield Park man intentionally drove into Bergen Turnpike traffic, causing a crash with an 84-year-old driver, prosecutors said.

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ — A man intentionally drove into traffic on the Bergen Turnpike on Wednesday, sending both himself and an 84-year-old driver to the hospital, prosecutors said.
Patrick J. McArdle, 24, of Ridgefield Park, was charged with second-degree aggravated assault resulting in bodily injury, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.
Prosecutors said that Ridgefield Park police responded Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. to a serious crash involving two vehicles along Bergen Turnpike.

Investigators determined that a Honda Civic, traveling northbound on Bergen Turnpike, crossed over the painted double-yellow line into the
southbound lane of travel, striking a Toyota Corolla. Both drivers were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Prosecutors and police determined that McArdle intentionally drove the Honda Civic into oncoming traffic, striking the other vehicle, which was operated by an 84-year-old driver.

McArdle remained hospitalized in police custody with non-life-threatening injuries on Thursday, prosecutors said. He's awaiting his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court.
