Monday: The Ducks Go Marching On

Hawes ducks make their way through construction

1) At last Monday's school board meeting, a video of the annual Hawes Duck Crossing was shown. Yep, it was a hit with lots of oohs and ahhs. Two ducks laid eggs in the inner courtyard of the school and quacked their way out to the new construction area. Board Vice President Bob Hutton joked about the ducks walking through the new construction area (which had temporary walls and a construction zone gate) maybe not meeting the approval of Building Inspector Tony Merlino. The ducks made their way to the stream and teachers and students all seemed quite pleased with the tradition.

2) Ridgewood resident Scott Smith will be the new assistant coach for the Wagner College Men's Basketball program, according to SILive.com. Smith has been an assistant at Bergen County College and Kean University and will be reunited with former Seton Hall teammate, coach Dan Hurley.

3) Three RHS juniors have been selected to participate in the 2011 Governor’s Schools–a pair will be at the School of the Sciences at Drew University and one at the School of Engineering at Rutgers University.
