NJ's Most Expensive Zip Code Is In Bergen County

Six zip codes in NJ are among the priciest in the country, with one of those in Bergen County, according to an annual ranking.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Six of the 100 priciest zip codes in the country are in New Jersey, with a Bergen County town high on the list, according to the 10th edition of the annual PropertyShark report.

The report ranks the top 100 priciest towns in America based on home sales.

In New Jersey, the priciest zip code, 07620/Alpine, came in at number 13 of the top 100 priciest in the U.S.

Several of the other areas were shore towns.

Last year, Alpine broke a record for New Jersey, with their median home sales over $3 million for the first time.

"A 13 percent year-over-year price increase lifted 07620 in Alpine to its highest price point yet at $3.32M, marking the first time that any New Jersey zip surpassed $3M," said a PropertyShark spokesperson last year.

This year, Alpine surpassed $4M, with Deal also passing the $3M mark.

The six New Jersey towns on the top-100 list, along with their median sale price, are:

  • 13. Alpine (07620), $4,350,000
  • 22. Deal (07723), $3,550,000
  • 57. Stone Harbor (08247), $2,550,000
  • 69. Short Hills (07078), $2,415,000
  • 75. Avalon (08202), $2,360,000
  • 93. Allenhurst (07711), $2,150,000

Only 15 states had a showing in the top 100 zips, most of those on the coasts.

The highest ranking zip was Miami Beach, Fla., followed by Atherton, Calif. and Sagaponack, N.Y.
