NYU Student Sues Bergen County-Based Roomie For Stealing Her Jewels: Reports
An NYU student, daughter of a Russian magnate, has accused her NJ-based freshman roommate of selling off her jewelry, reports say.
NEW JERSEY — A New York University freshman has accused her roommate — a Bergen County native — of ripping off her pricey jewelry and selling it online, according to published reports.
The New York Post reports that Aurora Agapov, whose father, Andre, is a "Russian mining magnate," has filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court saying that her roommate, an Old Tappan resident, sold off $51,000 of her jewelry and other luxury items.
Reports in local and international media say that Agapov discovered the theft of the Gucci, Chanel, and Bvlgari accessories at the end of the school year. The Post story says that the two had become close friends, but then, Agapov found a receipt saying her roomie sold the items to a consignment shop.

The "cost of attendance" at the University for the past school year came to $84,540 in direct costs, according to the school's website — but if you're a commuting student, you can shave that down to $67,804.
That includes tuition, housing, and food, but not books and supplies, the school says.
