Parks & Rec Programs Department Throwing Events for Fall Break

Three special programs are offered November 10 to keep your kids busy while on teacher's convention break

Teachers may be gone for the upcoming teacher's convention, but the Parks and Rec department have a series of events to keep the kids busy during their recess.

On Thursday, Nov. 10, Presley and Melody present "Happy, Healthy and Fit to Rock," which transforms the audience into spectators. Some become veritable stars on the stage at this musical showcase held at the library at 10:30 a.m. The event is geared toward those between the ages of 3 and 8 and is $5 for entrance.

Those a bit more artsy may enjoy the "Fun Art Bus," which will stop by the Stable between 1 and 4 p.m. on Thursday. Students from grades K-3 will hop onto the Mobile EcoCraft Art Bus and they'll be able to make all sorts of projects that have an eco message – reduce, reuse, recycle and recreate. The registration fee for the three-hour event is $80.

The kids aren't done with the green focus – they're even turning green from 1-3 p.m. Elementary schoolers from grades 3-5 can participate in a community service project, trivets for Meals on Wheels, all of which will be made from natural materials. Students also take home Thanksgiving wreaths made from various outdoors materials. It's one of four such workshops held throughout the year, with a focus on nature and kinesthetic learning. The workshop is $60.
