Mahwah 'Music Man' Dies At 94, Service This Week

He was a teacher in Bergen County and a veteran. His service will be this week.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Frank Jackson was a war veteran and a music teacher in two Bergen County high schools. On Monday, he passed away at 94.

According to his obituary, Jackson was born in Ohio, where he joined a Boys' Choir and later obtained a master's degree in music from Ohio State University. He served in the Army during the Korean War, then began a career teaching music in both Mahwah and Clifton high schools.

Notably, he played the part of music teacher (and charlatan) Harold Hill in the community productions of "The Music Man," earning him the nickname "Mahwah's Music Man," his obituary said. He also joined and directed local church choirs. Read his obituary here.
