Police Save Man Passed Out On Glen Rock Sidewalk From Fentanyl Overdose

Police used three doses of Narcan when they found a man unconscious near a Glen Rock resident's bushes Friday, they said.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Police used three doses of Narcan to revive a man who was suffering from a drug overdose in Glen Rock on Friday, they said.

According to the Glen Rock police, Officer James Donnelly headed to Maple and Glen avenues around 4:30 p.m. to check on the welfare of a man lying on the sidewalk near a resident’s bushes.

The officer found that the man, a resident in town, was unconscious and apparently suffering from an overdose.

The officer administered three doses of Narcan before the subject regained consciousness, police said.

"Upon being revived, the victim stated that he had snorted fentanyl," police said.

EMTs and paramedics responded to the scene and assessed the man's medical condition, police said. But he declined transportation to the hospital or any other form of assistance, police said.

"As required by law, the subject was provided with additional Narcan," police said.

Narcan is a brand of the nasal spray version of Naloxone, a medicine used to treat an opioid overdose.

During the period between Feb. 17 and Sunday, members of the GRPD handled 297 calls for service, police said.
