Poll: Are The Retroactive Incentive Raises a Good Move?

Village administration tout move to freeze salaries and pay on 'incentivized performance' as an innovation in government, others call it a inappropriate and a squandering of money in hard times

Top administrators and the majority of the council say freezing salaries of management and non-union personnel while in turn issuing raises of up to 4 percent in both 2010 and 2011 . Unlike the past, some have argued, the village is now rewarding those who deserve to be rewarded, not simply issue a check.

But Councilman Paul Aronsohn objected. Aronsohn said management should not be taking retroactive raises while taxes shoot up over 7 percent, the village lays off 30 people and there are well-documented problems with pedestrian safety, major flooding and accessibility issues.

Let's see what you think, take our poll.
