Poll: Should Graydon Change?

Opinions differ – what do you think? Should Graydon remain as it is?

An article posted Thursday reporting the recent move to decree Graydon Park a locally-historic site became just the latest soundboard for the wide-ranging opinions on the "town pool."

The planning board voted unanimously – with one abstention – to , which will require any large changes to see a planning board courtesy review. It does not mean the village cannot make changes to the site, but it could also make any future move for state or federal historic status easier, likely hamstringing the village from making big alterations.

Some commenters, including Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh, said the designation is to , who bequeathed the property to the village decades ago.

Others wondered if the site really should be considered 'historic' and listed several grievances and concerns with the and of the site. 

"But it's a disservice to young Ridgewood families to leave it the way it is - a nostalgic spot for Ridgewood seniors," commented Bill Porterfield. "And that is exactly what this 'historic designation' is all about."
