Poll: Is the Valley Survey Legit?
The hospital says the poll conducted in August with a sample of over 3,400 people concludes a silent majority – 62 percent – support expansion, while opponents say the survey is biased and manipulative

Grassroots group Concerned Residents of Ridgewood (CRR) says – which claims there is clear majority support for the 'Renewal' expansion proposal – is nothing more than spin and manipulation.
The hospital told the council and residents – against the objections of CRR – Thursday night that it attempted to reach all 8,000-plus homes in Ridgewood, ultimately conducting 3,468 surveys that the hospital claims demonstrate 62 percent support in favor of the expansion, 18 percent against it and 20 percent undecided.
"It's been our contention from the get-go that survey was very flawed, very biased and not scientific," said Pete McKenna, chairman of the CRR. "It should not ever be reported in public. We have had a number of people tell us several times that that they were not free to say, 'No, we don't support this.'"

Valley Hospital denied there was bias or manipulation, with spokesperson Megan Fraser remarking that the survey-conducting public affairs firm Berlin Rosen "is very professional" and further, it spoke poorly of residents to say that surveyors could change the minds of resolute neighbors.
Take our poll and tell us in the comments your experience with the surveyors. (Our full disclaimer – no joke, this is not a scientific poll.)
