Question of the Week: What Do You Think of the Proposed School Budget?

Taxes will rise but there aren't expected to be any cuts; how will you vote?

School officials say they feel a lot better about the proposed 2011-2012 school budget than they did . It's not surprising considering the $6 million gap it faced in its from a year ago.

(don't they always?) should this budget pass by nearly $191 on the average assessed home of $797,000 (and about $24 per $100,000 valuation) but no staff or programs are scheduled for cuts. The reason for the tax increase is largely to cover pension and health benefits for staff, officials say.

Taxes may be going up a relatively small amount, but should the district have made cuts? Are taxes hitting a critical mass? Would YOU vote for the proposed school budget?
