Report: Game On! Glen Rock Receives Desired Tax Status

The Glen Rock Gazette is reporting that Game On! Glen Rock, the organization spearheading the effort to revitalize Faber Field, has received full 501c3 non-profit tax exempt status. 

In December, the organization reported to the borough council it was setting a goal of raising $1 million in 2012. 

The  includes two baseball diamonds sharing space with a lined field, another dedicated soccer-type  with eleven field lights, an expanded parking lot beside the Recycling and Compost Center and a seating area that will be another source of revenue for the group, if all goes according to plan.

The resident-led group hopes to complete the  by February of 2014.

Game On is planning on raising money through a raffle (potentially auctioning off a vacation or car), a "Casino Night," and a "Family Fun Day" over the summer, Chairman Michael Stewart said in his December council address.

The group plans to use a combination of corporate, local and public funding sources, Stewart previously said.

The council in November signed off on approving the group's aims, stipulating taxpayer dollars wouldn't go toward the turfing and related construction, the Gazette reported. Sports groups would likely foot the bill for future turf replacement and other costs, according to The Gazette.
