Transformer Sparks on Franklin Avenue

Also, approximately 20-30 homes without power on Mountain Avenue after tree fell on power line

A transformer on Franklin Avenue sparked and sprayed debris in front of at around 6 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters at the scene said insulators on the transformer at the intersection of Cottage Place and Franklin Ave sparked, which then led to a popping of the breakers at the next pole to the east. There were no injuries and Franklin Avenue remained open for traffic. The Education Center and other buildings nearby had power following the incident. PSE&G was alerted and will be responding shortly, firefighters said.

In a separate incident, Cpt. Bob Kozielski said approximately 20-30 homes on Mountain Avenue are without power after a tree fell on a power line. The area has been cordoned off and PSE&G should be responding shortly, he said.
