Ridgewood Blotter: Woman Makes False 911 Calls, Fraudsters Busted
Also, an iPhone was stolen from a package, and man put a stop to a phone scam.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Police in Ridgewood received a number of calls for service. Here are some highlights.
On March 26, a Wilsey Square resident called police and reported a fraud and criminal attempt. The caller said a woman called his house and said she was a law enforcement official requesting donations and bank information. The man ended the call without sharing any personal information.
On March 29, a resident of South Irving Street reported criminal mischief damage at his home. The caller reported seeing damage to the electrical wiring attached to his house. No other damage was reported.

On March 29, a Leroy Place resident said an unknown person knocked on the window of his house overnight. The area was checked, but no one was found in the area.
On March 31, police officers were sent to 536 North Maple Avenue after theft and fraud was reported at TD Bank. Bank employees told police three people had used fraudulent identification and a credit card to access someone else's bank account. The person tried to withdraw money from the account. Three people were arrested and taken to Ridgewood Police headquarters.

A 40-year-old man from Larchmont, New York, was charged with theft by deception, fraudulent use of personal identifying information and fraudulent use of a credit card. a 22-year-old from Bronx, New York, was charged with theft by deception and trafficking personal identifying information. A 29-year-old from Bronx was charged with theft by deception and possession of C.D.S. All three were processed and released with pending court dates.
On April 3, a Claremont Road resident called police to report an iPhone XR had been stolen from within a package before being delivered to her home. The victim notified UPS and Verizon about the stolen phone, which was valued at $680.
On April 5, a 56-year-old woman from Ridgewood made two false claims of a medical emergency by calling 911 10 times. Police found the woman was making false medical emergency reports, and she was served with special complaints summonses for making false public alarms. She was released after being served with a pending court date.
