Ridgewood Coffee Company Closing for Renovations

Will be shuttered for month of June

If you're looking for a cold flavored latte or a mean morning espresso during June, you won't find it at .

"We're going to close little early on Monday," said Jan Apanich, who took over ownership of the village's top coffee shop with wife Sara in April from Rich Wieczorek. "On Tuesday [May 31], the curtains come up."

The construction–which notably will remove the wall that splits the shop behind the counter, and reorient seating–will last about four weeks, Apanich said Tuesday night.

"We'll be adding a few more seats and will have more pastries, sandwiches and gourmet sodas," he said. Among the larger changes will be a greater emphasis on single origin espresso, heavily incorporating Intelligentsia's Black Cat Project.

As for the staff, Apanich said there will still be opportunities to make some money while closed for renovation. "We'll have some stuff for them to do behind the scenes and we'll be calling in people to help with labor."

When the shop reopens there will likely be a grand opening party as well.
